Principle of lighter

Sep. 27, 2022 547

The principle that lighters can ignite is that the liquid in lighters is compressed butane gas, which is flammable like methane and acetylene. There are two ignition modes of disposable lighters: one is that sparks generated by flint friction ignite butane. The other is to ignite butane with electric spark generated by piezoelectric ceramic chip.

Common lighters can be divided into gas lighters and liquid fuel lighters according to the fuel. The former uses liquefied (compressed) butane gas as the fuel, while the latter uses kerosene as the fuel; According to the ignition mode, it can be roughly divided into roller flint ignition and electronic ignition. The former uses metal roller to rub flint to produce sparks to ignite fuel, which is suitable for gas and liquid lighters; The latter uses the piezoelectric effect of piezoelectric ceramics to generate electric sparks, which ignite the fuel, and is usually only applicable to gas lighters.
